Verduzzo - a name which refers to the green reflections in this white grape - is a traditional north-eastern Italian grape, originating in Friuli. For decades it was proposed on the markets as easy-to-drink slightly sparkling partially fruit if not sweetish white wine. However, at I Clivi, where the Zanusso family has the ambition of producing the best territorial expression of every grape and vineyard, the true value of this long neglected grape has been re-established.
Thus, here you are a very intriguing white wine, suitable for moderate ageing:
"Vivid, golden-tinged straw-green. Minerals, white flowers, ripe apricot and almond paste on the captivating nose. Then very elegant with pure tangerine, green papaya, and herbal flavours complicated by a strong almondy note emerging on the long mineral-stained finish. Exuding outstanding clarity and cut, this is a knockout and very pure Verduzzo Friulano, the product of very old vines (greater than 70 years old) in Gramogliano. (Ian d'Agat, Vinous)
