Francesco Antano is making the most of the amazing vineyard that his father Milziade left for him to produce his unique Montefalco Rosso. Every row is made of Sagrantino, Sangiovese and Merlot vines, that are all picked at the same time, when the last variety has reached its optimum ripeness. Thus the other two varieties, have began to dry out a little, adding volume and complexity this wine. This is by all means our favourite Montefalco Rosso.
This small winery is located between the towns of Montefalco and Bevagna. It belonged to Francesco Antano's grandfather Milziade, who was known for making some of the best Sagrantino already in the 1970s, when this autochtonous variety was almost forgotten about. . Francesco started working in the vineyards as a child. He drove the tractor at age 9, and dedicated his entire time to his land. Like us, he believes that quality begins with the land and the care given to the growing the vines. Pruning and harvesting of the grapes are always carried out with great expertise and attention. The same applies to the reduced cellar practices, among the most traditional of the entire denomination. These wines are rigorous and elegant, tasty and of great longevity. Ideal wines for discovering the wonderful territory of Montefalco, best in Umbria and among the greats of Italy and the world.
