Grechetto is a descendant of grapes brought to Italy by the Greek colonisers 2500 years ago. As most of those wines, it is slightly aromatic and rich in aromatics, but develops a nice structure, too.
A beautiful yellow gold, it strikes with a bouquet of white and purple flowers in which you sense honey, at the same time, a tinge of citrus, savoury herbs and orchard fruits tinged in citrus fruit. The mineral and slightly salty notes balance it all, and all this si supported by a present, but never overwhelming body... beautiful and better with ageing, it is one of those white wines that you will love at any time.. although it is ideal in the summer, on medium fish dishes, poultry or charcuterie, fresh cheese and in general, Italian cuisine.
Grechetto is grown all over Umbria, but at Montemelino, overlooking lake Trasimeno, it delivers the unique combination of mineral soil and lake breeze. Never met anyone who doesn't like it!
