I confess - I am partial to this wine. After attending the presentation of 2020 Nizza in an ancient palace in the center of town, trying over 50 different wines from many small and larger producers, including some internationally renouned labels, I came across Forvia and concluded it was my very favourite. It's because the so often "wild" Barbera has been tamed without losing its essence. Impeccable balance!
Nizza is a premium appellation for the best Barbera vineyards around the town Nizza Monferrato. It was created to differentiate from the broader "Barbera d'Asti" appellation. So, here you get Barbera from the best vineyards, selected grapes, long fermentations and ageing in oak. The result is a selection of 5000 bottles of bold, big red wine, that give you tons of dark cherries, syrupy fruit, rose petal, kirsch, game, vanilla, smoke - all impeccably balanced. Superb!
