Made by one of the shooting stars of north-eastern Italy's wine making panorama, this amazing Friulano is "smoky with gingery spices and flint giving way to crushed pear. This is a soft textured effort with salty minerals upfront that give way to lime tinged apple to create a truly savoury impression. The 2019 slowly fizzles out with a pleasant inner sweetness and leaves the palate, completely refreshed. Only 830 bottles were produced from this 80-year-old vineyard located in Cormons. It was fermented in neutral barriques where it also refined on the lees for eight months" (Eric Guido, for Vinous).
It is a true pleasure, one of those definitely worth your while, and leaves us with a new vision of this ancient variety, once known as Tocai.
