Ernesto Molino planted his first Nebbiolo vines over 70 years ago around this old tree, and form these selected old vines the Barolo Riserva del Fico is made - only from the best bunches, in the best years, with a long maceration on the skins and ageing in oak barrels.
This wine offers tons of elegance, finesse, complexity, power and a long life ahead! A dark ruby tending toward garnet. The bouquet develops around hints of fresh roses, dog roses, wild cherry, ripe plum, tobacco, licorice, a hint of coffee, some cinnamon and carob. On the palate it is broad, elegant, fine, with really well worked tannins. It offers a long finish, with a slightly a tannic aftertaste, which makes me think that, even though it is ready to drink it will grow better and better in time. Superb!
