Benevelli is one of Piedmont’s emerging stars. Piero's son Massimo sees himself as a "farmer", and focusses on the vineyards above all. The winemaking rather traiditional and simple. "The Benevelli Barolos are big, potent wines that showcase the virile intensity of prime sites in Monforte. Long macerations are the rule. Aging is done in mostly neutral French oak and casks" (Vinous).
