Alta Langa VSQ is "the" dry sparkling wine from the Langhe region in Piemonte, best known for some of the world's greatest reds - Barolo and Barbaresco. It is mandatorily made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, grown on high hills (hence the name) and must be left to rest on the yeasts for a least 30 months. Only single vintage "millesimati" wines are allowed to be bottled. It is not an imitation of Champagne but a local territorial "variant" of the great French sparkling - a must try for all lovers of sparkling wines.
Each producer has his own variants on the subject. Among the many we tried, perhaps the most distinctive "blanc de blancs" style is this one from Terrabianca. Prevalentyl from Chardonnay grapes, it has a good body, great freshness, perfect perlage and reveals an abundance of tropical and white fruits which are so typical for the aromatic spectrum of Chardonnay.
