Located in the splendidly positioned Lapio, one of the very few Italian locations that are home to two DOCG appellations, (Fiano d'Avellino and Taurasi), Filadoro is a family winery that thrives on a very good balance of price and quality.
Their "simple" Aglianico 2018 is one of those truly local expressions of this great grape. Bald, straight forward and rather direct in style, it offers a fruity and spicy nose, lots of blue berries, black berries, dark cherry and plum jam on high tannins, all well-balanced by the tension stemming from its acidity. Towards the rather long finish, freshly brewed aroma of espresso coffee appears. Intriguing!
At five years of age it is perfect to be enjoyed, but has potential for ageing for an additional 10 years.
