Tripudio Rosso 2013 Chianti Colli Senesi Rubicini
Historic San Gimignano, known for its many medieval towers, has been known for centuries for its white Vernaccia wine. Recently, however, more and more local growers decided to invest in their red grapes as well. So does the Rubicini family, with this traditional blend of Sangiovese and Colorino grapes, to which they add a small percentage of Cabernet. The wine is aged in barriques for at least 12 months and further aged for at least 6 months in the bottle. The result is a powerful Chianti, with toasty and oaky notes, lots of black and red fruit, and a certain solemnity. The noticeable tannins have smoothened with age and our 2013 vintage is very well rounded. According to some, this one of the most interesting Chianti overall.
It is perfect with all kinds of Tuscan meals, from starters including wild boar salami, pasta dishes with porcini mushrooms, the wonderful Ribollita Soup, and especially grilled meats. A rare pearl for a very convenient price!
