Langhe DOC "Nascetta del Comune di Novello" 2019 Cascina Adelaide
Cascina Adelaide is a wonderful winery, right underneath the castle of Barolo, on the foot of the "Preda" Barolo vineyard. Its founder, Amabile Drocco, and granddaughter Chiara strive for excellency and typicity - and they succeed with all their wines! This Nascetta is from a single vineyard in Novello.
Do you know Nascetta? This ancient grape variety, native to the Langhe, had long been abandoned and is being re-discovered in recent years.
Genetically it has traits of Riesling, Moscato Giallo and Sauvignon - quite a unique combination of aromas, acidity and body. An intriguing grape!
The best bunches are selected and ice-marked macerated for 10 hours, then the fermentation takes place for 10 days at controlled temperature. The outcome is amazing: the semi-aromatic notes of the Nascetta grape reveal themselves in full. Citrus notes of grapefruit blossom, resin, mango peel and honey come together, supported by the rocky edge of the soil and well-balanced acidity. Outstanding and differently from most Piemonte whites, it is suitable for ageing.
