Briseide 2017 Colline Novaresi Uva Rara Paride Chiovini
According to mythology, Briseide was kidnapped by Achilles, who then kept her a slave but loved her tenderly. She was described as a tall, dark, elegant woman. Uva Rara (“rare grape”) has quite these looks: dark berries, not many grapes on a bunch (hence the name) it looks rather elegant and gives us easy-to-like red wines.
Who would think of drinking red wine all year around, even on hot summer days? Well, Briseide has inspired us to just that. In autumn, she is perfect with roasted chestnuts, salame, young cheese and light risotto dishes or ravioli, specially those stuffed with pumpkin. In the winter, she is great with richer traditional starters, and opens the stomach for more serious meat dishes. In spring, she expresses her joyful self when served slightly cool on the first warm days, on its own or with pasta, salads and poultry. In the heat of summer, served chilled, she is a great alternative to whites or rosés.
