Barolo Riserva del Fico DOCG 2015 E. Molino
How many vineyards with an old fig tree in the centre do you know? Ernesto Molino planted his first Nebbiolo vines over 70 years ago around this old tree, and form these selected old vines the Barolo Riserva del Fico is made - only from the best bunches, in the best years, with a long maceration on the skins and ageing in oak barrels.
A dark ruby tending toward garnet. The olfactory spectrum develops around hints of lavender, dried roses, cherry, plum, tobacco, licorice, cinnamon and carob. On the palate it is broad, elegant, fine, with really well worked tannins. It offers a long finish, with a slightly a tannic aftertaste, which makes me think that it will be best in a 3 - 4 years time. Fantastic!
