Al Forte’s main trait is mineral-influenced fruit and strong acidity. This perfumed and structured red blend expresses flavours of juicy red cherries, tart plums, tar and smoke, marked by well-integrated tannins and a lingering finish. It hits you immediately and stays with your for a long time. Cannot stop drinking… we love it! Knowing the meticulous work Cristiano Garella and his team put into their vines, their grapes and their winemaking, we expected great things and were not disappointed! Al Forte is made from grapes growing only on volcanic soil, and vines younger than the ones in Le Pianelle's Bramaterra, and different percentage in the blend (less Nebbiolo, more Croatina) as well as slightly different fermentation times for single grapes, before they are assembled.
Nebbiolo 80%, Croatina 20%, Vespolina 10% All bunches are selected manually Natural fermentation with native yeasts for at least three weeks, Soil: reddish volcanic porphyry with acid PH, in Villa del Bosco Altitude: 330-380 m above sea level Ageing: 18 months in an oak vat holding 2,700 litres Life expectancy: 20 years +
